Two hospitals of the National Health Service (SNS) start the year 2023 with the appointment of new Boards of Directors. A government order appoints, with effect from January 2, the governing bodies of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João (CHUSJ) and Hospital do Espírito Santo de Évora (HESE).

In both cases, the members of the Board of Directors ended their mandate this Saturday, December 31, explains a note from the Ministry of Health.

The new Boards of Directors were designated by order of the Government members responsible for the areas of Health and Finance, for a term of three years, having heard, in the process, the executive director of the SNS.

The legal procedure is underway for the remaining appointments to the boards of directors of the SNS hospital units that have ended their mandate, namely those that saw their appointments extended in the context of the response to the pandemic.

The Ministry of Health, in its note, claims to recognize "publicly the work of the teams that are now ceasing functions, renewing the commitment to consolidate the management of the SNS units throughout 2023, a year that will begin with a budget increase of 1,2 thousand million euros in Health and new networking mechanisms within the scope of the newly created Executive Directorate of the National Health Service (DE-SNS), which also assumes full functions from the beginning of the year».
