Pediatric and orthopedic emergencies at the Hospital de Faro with constraints at Christmas

The orthopedics and pediatrics emergencies at the Hospital de Faro will suffer constraints in the coming days, being closed in some periods.  

In the case of orthopedics, the closure will run from 8:00 am tomorrow, December 24th, until the morning of the 25th. This service reopens on Christmas Day, but closes again that night, until 8:00 am on the 26th, according to TVI.

According to the same channel, the Pediatric Emergency Department of Faro it will close at 9 am on the 24th and will remain until Tuesday morning.

During this period, service will be provided in Portimão.

With regard to obstetricians, the Sindicato Independent dos Médicos denounces that the scales are not complete, even though closures are not foreseen in the maternity ward.

According to information released this Thursday, December 22, by the executive board of the National Health Service, the Algarve and the North region will keep all the birthing blocks operating at Christmas, «all other regions have constraints and in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo there will be sharing of resources and alternating closures», advances the News Diary.

Still on this matter, the union denounces Hospital de Faro for the payment of 90 euros per hour to obstetricians who are available to work during this Christmas period. The complaint is denied by the hospital, reveals TVI.

O Sul Informação tried to contact the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve to obtain clarification on the constraints in the emergency room foreseen for the next few days, but until the time of publication of this news, he had not received a response.
