Literary Guide to Levado do Chão receives the National Prize “Libraries: Development and the 2030 Agenda”

The award was handed over in Guimarães, on the 7th of December

The Literary Guide project Levado do Chão, by the Almeida Faria Municipal Library, in Montemor-o-novo, received the “Libraries: Development and the 2030 Agenda” Prize, awarded by the Portuguese Association of Librarians, Archivists, Information and Documentation Professionals (BAD ) and by the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB).

The award was presented in Guimarães, on the 7th of December, on the 49th anniversary of BAD, by the Councilor for Culture and Art, Henrique Lopes, and Nuno Cacilhas, coordinator of the Roteiro Literário Lifted do Chão project.

This distinction, according to councilor Henrique Lopes, represents «an enormous honor for the Municipality of Montemor-o-Novo and for the technical team of the Almeida Faria Municipal Library, which sees its work distinguished at national level for its contribution to the achievement of the Objectives of Sustainable Development established by the General Assembly of the United Nations".

In the year in which José Saramago's centenary is celebrated, this award, according to the project coordinator, is «an important national recognition for the Literary Route Levado do Chão, but it also represents an enormous challenge for the future, that of continuing to honor the prize and thus contribute to the sustainability of our planet».
