Castro Marim's new salt nativity scene can now be visited

Until January 8th

A new crib made from six tons of salt, the result of the work of collector Ernesto Pires and two local artists, Nuno Rufino and Abel Viegas, will be on display until the 8th of January at the Casa de Sal de Castro Marim.

This representation of the birth of Jesus combines «the origin with tradition and the arts» and has «several languages», according to the Castro-Marinense Chamber.

An initiative of the Municipality and Parish Council of Castro Marim, the Salt Crib continues its work in promoting and strengthening the great economic, social and cultural engine of Castro Marim, which is salt.

Also until the 8th of January, but at the Local Market in Castro Marim, you can see a Crochet Nativity Scene, knitted by the hands of Maria do Carmo Pires, started 4 years ago and which has more than 200 figures.

The two Castro Marim Nativity Scenes can be visited every day, between 9 am and 00 pm and from 13 pm to 00 pm.
