The Municipality of Silves offered a rescue ambulance to the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of São Bartolomeu de Messines, an investment that amounted to 67 thousand euros.
The vehicle key delivery ceremony was attended by the Mayor Rosa Palma, the Vice-President of the Board of the Association António Pedro Mealha and two representatives of the fire department.
In a note, the municipality mentions the offer of the vehicle, «equipped with advanced equipment and conditions, allows the Fire Brigade to improve its operational capacity and provide a higher quality service in providing assistance to the population».
The municipal investment is part of the strategy to gradually reinforce support for Fire Brigades in the municipality of Silves, a policy developed since 2014, «bearing in mind that firefighters are the most important protection and rescue organization in the country, assuming a central role in the Civil Protection System”.
