It is already known who the winners of the Lagos Digital Photography Contest are, whose themes were based on “Ecosystem Recovery” and “Sustainability and Water”.
The Digital Photography Contest, which had 29 participants, was organized by the Lagos municipality as part of the environmental awareness campaign “Lagos na Onda do Verão”, with the two themes chosen in line with the motto of this year's edition of the education program for sustainable development “Blue Flag”.
«Given its relevance and urgency in raising community awareness of these issues, the fragility of ecosystems and the drought situation were the starting point for participants to give free rein to their imagination to collect their photographs in the territorial area of Lagos», refers the Municipality, emphasizing that the Barragem da Bravura, Ponta da Piedade, Odiáxere and the beaches of Lagos were some of the places that stood out in this edition.
Rita da Mata Monteiro, with the work “Cleaning up the past to guarantee the future” (Praia da Luz), was the big winner of the theme Recovery of Ecosystems. In second place was Pedro Miguel Viana Correia, with the work “Horizonte de Fogo” (Ponta da Piedade)
and in third, Válter Manuel Ramos Simões with “Save the Bee” (Odiáxere).
Honorable mention went to “Treasure Hunt, eco version” (Meia Praia), by Grazyna Maria Kolanko.
The Sustainability and Water prizes were awarded to Ana Margarida Simões Nobre Marreiros, with “Pulsar a Terra” (Bravura dam). Second place went to Válter Manuel Ramos Simões, with “O Reflexo da apanha” (Vale da Lama) and third place was awarded to Maya Jesus Rieger, with the work “Superfície” (Bravura Dam).
The monetary prize-giving ceremony (300, 200 and 100 euros for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place of each theme) took place at the Auditorium Paços do Concelho Séc. XXI, this Wednesday, December 7th.
