Farense loses to Rio Ave and is out of the League Cup

Sporting won the group and went on to the next stage, where they will meet Sporting de Braga

Farense lost by 2-1 against Rio Ave, in the last round of group B of the Football League Cup, played this Tuesday, December 13, in Vila do Conde. The Algarves are out of the competition. 

With a slim chance of moving on, Farense conceded the first goal in the 30th minute, through Aziz.

In the second half, the Algarve reached equality. Muscat scored for the Algarve, in the 62nd minute.

However, shortly after, at 65', there was another setback: Cristian Ponde was expelled and Farense started to play with only 10 players.

Rio Ave ended up scoring again, again through Aziz, from the penalty spot, in the 73rd minute, giving victory to the villagers.

Farense ended this League Cup group stage in 3rd place, with three points.

Sporting won the group and went on to the next stage, where they will meet Sporting de Braga.
