Concerts, dances, lots of fireworks and entertainment: this will be New Year's Eve for 2023 in various municipalities in the Algarve.
From Albufeira to Vila Real de Santo António, passing through some parishes, we have put together programs that you can enjoy, free of charge.
Albufeira
Rui Veloso, a Show parachutists and an aquatic pyromusical show are the suggestions of another Carpe Nox, Albufeira's New Year's Eve party: a concept that debuted in 2019 and which brought «about 180 people» to the Praia dos Pescadores area from that year to 2020, but which had to be suspended in the last two years , due to the pandemic.
In addition to the program New Year's Eve, the end-of-year party in Albufeira will feature the now traditional Paderne Medieval (which runs until January 1st, inclusive), the Solrir humor festival, and the live broadcast of Paderne from TVI's Somos Portugal program , with tickets to downtown Albufeira, on the 31st of December.
On the night of the 31st, the program includes a concert by Rui Veloso, starting at 22 pm. The concert will last about two hours and will feature Tatanka, vocalist of The Black Mamba, as a guest.
Later, after the fireworks displays, DJ Guga, resident at Antena 3, will continue to liven up the night.
Also in the parish of Olhos de Água, there will be a party scheduled to start at 22:00 on December 31st. The Duo Improviso will go up to the stage set up at Praia de Olhos de Água, in a performance that will last until 1:00 am. In between, at 00:00, the public will be able to watch a fireworks show launched also from the beach.
At 22:30 pm, there is a fire juggling show by artist Ana Sofia Brito.
On site, there is also food and drink provided by the Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo de Olhos de Água, which will have a tent there.
Alcoutim
Em Alcoutim, parties are back on the docks, with dancing, fireworks and a concert that promises entertainment until dawn.
This year's program includes a dance with Valter Reis, from 21 pm, fireworks, at 30 am, and entertainment with the Quarta Série Musical Group, from 00 am.
Faro
the dock of Faro it is the meeting point to spend the year in the Algarve capital. As usual, at 00:00 the fireworks will be launched again. That night, entertainment will be provided by the singer Toy, from 23 pm to 00 am, followed by DJ Wilson Honrado on stage.
Lagoa
In the municipality of Lagoa, the big end of year party takes place at Praia do Carvoeiro.
Music and fireworks is what anyone who decides to spend the year in Carvoeiro, in Largo da Praia, can expect.
The music starts at 22 pm, with a concert by the 00Ex Band. At midnight, there is the usual fireworks show, which will last about 5 minutes, and will welcome 10. The party continues with DJ Alexandre Ramos, until 2023:2 am.
Lagos
In Lagos, it is The Gift that will bring music to Praça do Infante.
The Portuguese band will perform even before 12:XNUMX and, after the fireworks, the first hours of the new year will be to the sound of DJ Lighthouse.
Loulé
In the municipality of Loulé, the big New Year's Eve party takes place in Quarteira, this time on Passeio das Dunas and not on Praça do Mar, with a concert by Expensive Soul.
That night, the venue will open at 21:30 pm with ambient music and, at 22:30 pm, it will be the turn of the group from Leça da Palmeira, Expensive Soul, to take the stage. In addition to the fireworks show, from 00:15, there will be a performance by DJ Christian F.
Although this is the high point, the festivities begin earlier.
On the 30th, New Year's Eve, local artist Marc Noah takes the stage, followed by another national project, Hybrid Theory The Linkin Park Tribute.
Monchique
In Monchique, "Plow the Sea" brings a different program for New Year's Eve. The new circus, organized since 2016, except in the pandemic years, returns to the Algarve mountains.
The show, which is on display between the 26th of December and the 1st of January, takes place at the Heliport, lasts for 75 minutes and starts at 21:00.
Tickets can be purchased here and cost 10 euros. But you'll have to be on the waiting list... because tickets are already sold out for all shows.
But the party doesn't stop there. After the circus shows, on the heliport, Lavrar o Mar offers a concert and an end-of-year party, with free entry from 22:30 pm. There will be food and drinks for sale, but raisins and champagne are offered.
Olhão
In the municipality of Olhão, Fuseta continues to organize the traditional party with music, fireworks and the New Year's Bath.
From 22:00, on the stage located in the riverside area, a dance will begin enlivened by the duo “Tons de Baile”, which precedes the performance of DJ Miguel Simões, entertainer and radio announcer, with passages by Rádio Comercial and by M80, which will animate the party until dawn.
And, as is now tradition, on the 1st of January – starting at 10 am – Praia dos Tesos will once again host the 30st Bath of the New Year, with an expected attendance of around 1 people.
Portimão
In Portimão, the entrance in 2023 takes place to the sound of Piruka, Matias Damásio and tribute to Queen, with a program that takes place between the 29th and 31st of December, always from 22h00, in the riverside area of the city.
The program started on the night of the 29th of December, with a performance by Piruka. Yesterday, December 30th, it was Matias Damásio's turn to take the stage and on the 31st, New Year's Eve will be celebrated until 1 am, to the sound of dj Noise Tribe and the band Mercury Falls, with a tribute to Queen.
At midnight, there is the traditional fireworks display, with launching points from the riverside areas of Portimão and Alvor and at Praia da Rocha, next to the Miradouro.
The concerts have free access and are supported by the promoters of the summer festivals Rolling Loud, Afro Nation and Secret Project, within the scope of the partnership established with the municipality of Portimão.
From 22:00 on December 31st, there will also be a lot of entertainment in the riverside area of Alvor in charge of DJ Cabeça, also with free access.
In addition to these initiatives, “Portimão, a Christmas Dream” is running until the 6th of January. There is also an exhibition of the winning works of the 22nd Photographic Race of Portimão and the exhibition of photographs “Planeta em Furia”, with images by Bruno Gonçalves.
Silves
In Silves, the party takes place in the parish of Armação de Pêra, where the charismatic Algarve band Iris once again takes the stage at Praia dos Pescadores
The first part of his concert is scheduled for 23:00. At 00:00, the welcome to 2023 will be given with a fireworks show that will light up the bay of Armação de Pêra for about 15 minutes.
In 2023, Iris will continue on stage until 1:00 am, followed by the performance of DJ “Deejay G3”, until 3:00 am. The entertainment then continues at the nightlife establishments in the town of Armação de Pêra.
Tavira
In Tavira, HMB are the highlight of New Year's Eve festivities. The group led by Héber Marques, performs in Praça da República, from 00:10.
Before that, those who choose to spend the year in this Algarve city can dance to the sound of the Rita Fox Band, from 22h until the fireworks display, which starts at 30h.
After HMB's performance, it's DJ Di Angello who continues to liven up the night.
Vila Real de Santo António
In the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, anyone who decides to pass by Monte Gordo will enter 2023 with Revenge of the 90's and Fireworks.
From 23:00 onwards, and until the early hours of the morning, the animation is at the controls of Revenge, with the presence of Batatinha & Companhia and Melon.
Besides Monte Gordo, the last night of the year will also be celebrated in Vila Real de Santo António, at Praça Marquês de Pombal, between 22 pm and 00 am, with the rhythms of «Cookie Monsters» and the beats of «dj jonny v». At midnight there are also fireworks launched from the Town Hall building.
Vila Nova de Cacela also welcomes 2023, at Largo Manuel Cabanas. The celebrations will take place on the 1st of January with the traditional Cantar das Janeiras, starting at 15 pm. The afternoon continues with «Déjà vu Band» and a fireworks launch at 00 pm.
