Silves City Council congratulated designer Alexandra dos Santos, from Doçaria do Sul, in Silves, for the award in the category of Best Creative Tourism Program/Experience, within the scope of the Algarve Craft & Food project, achieved by a set of five tourist workshops.
«Congratulations Alexandra Santos, who Southern sweets can continue to grow, consolidate its position in the market and sweeten the mouths of all of us!», emphasizes the municipality.
The experiences proposed in the workshops allow modeling almond and fig cookies, inventing a recipe from carob, taking a photography class that uses local products as models or imagining the design of a packaging for a regional sweet, combining popular sweets algarvia to the creativity of the participants.
Os Algarve Craft & Food Awards aim to encourage and distinguish the best tourist products and programmes, accepting applications in various categories, with a total of twenty originals competing, from Portugal and Spain, in this edition which had a jury of seven Algarve personalities from the areas of tourism, culture, press, arts and crafts.
The winners will receive a prize worth five thousand euros for having stood out for the quality, originality and identity value of the works presented.
The Algarve Craft & Food project is promoted by Turismo do Algarve, by Tertúlia Algarvia and by the QRER cooperative, with co-financing from CRESC Algarve 2020 – Algarve Regional Operational Programme.
