Câmara de Lagos is already prepared to receive new competences in Social Action

Deadline for accepting these skills is January 1, 2023

Yesterday, Wednesday, the 21st, the Lagos Chamber approved measures «to guarantee the conditions to receive, in 2023, the new competences foreseen in the field of Social Action».

The deadline for the mandatory transfer of competences in this and other areas is January 1, 2023, although there is "the expectation, in view of the request submitted by the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities to the Government, that this date may be extended for another three months and take effect only on April 1st of the following year".

«Regardless of what is decided, the Chamber of Lagos has prepared itself for the two temporal scenarios, approving the conclusion of cooperation protocols with local institutions that already previously collaborated with Social Security in the exercise of the referred competences», according to the autarchy.

The Lucinda Anino dos Santos Social Assistance Center (CASLAS) «will be a partner of the municipality in the scope of activities related to the Social Insertion Income (RSI). The Specialized Nucleus for the Inclusive Citizen (NECI) and Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lagos, entities will collaborate with the municipality in the functioning of the Service of Assistance and Social Monitoring (SAAS)».

At the same meeting, the project for the “Internal Regulation of the Assistance and Social Assistance Service” was also approved, a document that will determine the mode of operation of this service aimed at people and families in situations of vulnerability and social exclusion.
