Lídia Jorge Library celebrates anniversary with various activities

From shows to entertainment, the Lídia Jorge Municipal Library, in Albufeira, celebrates its 18th anniversary this Saturday, December 17th, with various activities.

On the 17th, early in the morning, and before the commemorative cake is cut, the installation of the tapestry by Vanessa Barragão, who was at Ponte de Paderne on the occasion of the Geopalcos and who now has her permanent home in this Library, will be applauded.

At 11:00 am, there is a theater and circus show for children “The boy and the firefly”, by Ana Sofia Brito, with Luana Brito. This is about a
theater, light and juggling show, created with the aim of raising environmental awareness, through the quotation of short poems and different artistic expressions. Admission is open to the public, for ages three and up.

At 21:00 on that day, the poetic performance “Florbela – life and work of Florbela Espanca” will also take place, a fusion between the poetic soirée and the theater play. The show deals with the life and work of the author of “Dominó”, in a conception and performance by Ana Sofia Brito. A show for the general public and free admission.

On the 20th, 21st and 22nd, there will be another edition of “School Holidays + Library + Entertainment = Christmas Holidays 2022”. Over the three days, children over six years old and young people from the municipality have the opportunity to resume activities aimed at occupying their free time during the Christmas holidays. The initiative will take place in the mornings, from 10:30 am to 13:00 pm, limited to 15 participants per workshop.

Children can participate in various Christmas activities at the Crafts Workshop. On the 20th, the day will be dedicated to Christmas Slime, through sensory experiences and motor activities, stimulating the use of imagination and creativity while managing to relieve stress and fight anxiety. On the 21st, participants will work with kinetic sand, modeling sand, in order to create multiple designs. On the 22nd, the activity consists of decorating New Year's plates with decoupage and craquelle, welcoming 2023.

Participation is free of charge, and those interested must register in advance via email [email protected] with data referring to the name/date of the chosen workshops, name and age of the child, name of guardian and telephone number.
