RIAS obtains another financing from the Environmental Fund

It is the only recovery center in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo

The RIAS – Center for the Recovery and Research of Wild Animals Ria Formosa has just seen an application approved for the Environmental Fund, for requalification works.

Thus, this recovery center – the only one in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo – will receive around 50 thousand euros, which will be applied in works to requalify the various facilities.

In 2021, the application for the Environmental Fund approved at the time allowed «to carry out works that significantly changed the working conditions of the team and of the more than 3 animals» that RIAS receives annually.

«But there is always room for improvement», adds that recovery centre.

Thus, interventions this year will focus on reviewing the entire electrical installation of the center and changing the lighting system, replacing the roof network of outdoor recovery facilities, installing various air conditioning equipment, creating an outdoor laundry area, create a support structure for storing materials and also improve recovery conditions for mammals and reptiles.

These interventions began during the current month of November, and are expected to be completed in the coming months.

The Environmental Fund is support that finances entities, activities or projects that aim to contribute to the conservation of Nature in all its aspects (climate change, water resources, waste and biodiversity conservation).

As in 2021, the Environmental Fund this year opened applications for wild fauna recovery centers in two areas – management and requalification works.
