The requalification work on the EN2, between São Brás de Alportel and Via do Infante, had «significant progress in the last month» with the «favorable opinion of the Portuguese Environment Agency in relation to the environmental impact assessment».

The news was given by Vitor Guerreiro, mayor of São Brás de Alportel, this Thursday, November 10, during the press conference on the balance sheet of the first year of the municipal mandate.

This is a statement that “took more than a year than expected”.

«Now we are going to start working towards the realization of this connection to Via do Infante, which will also be decisive to establish even more companies in our municipality», defended the mayor, stressing that there is still no date set for the start of the work.

“This issue of environmental impact has already been an achievement, we are satisfied with that. Our goal is that, next year, an international public tender will be launched», added the mayor.

Like the Sul Informação had already realized June 2021, the requalification project is being carried out, in almost its entire length, on the current route of the EN2 and foresees the creation of nine roundabouts (at places such as the intersection for Estoi, Machados and Calçadinha), two new sections and three lanes for slow speeds, in this case a total of 2,4 kilometers.

In addition, the requalification will encompass the creation of sidewalks, and the rehabilitation and reinforcement of the pavements.
