“Agro+efficient” projects adapted to climate change presented at Patacão

The session will be free of charge and open to the general public.

The public presentation of the projects approved within the scope of the candidacy of the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve, to the PRR/Agenda of Research and Innovation for the Sustainability of Agriculture, Food and Agro – industry (R&D+I Projects – Adaptation to Climate Change) will take place at the headquarters of this organization, in Patacão (Faro), on the 30th of November, from 10:00 am.

According to DRAP Algarve, the application «involves several other public and private entities», such as AMAL, AIDA, Frusoal, In Loco, among others, being framed «in the theme of valuing traditional genetic resources, new cultures and management of irrigation water in the context of climate change».

«In a scenario where climate change is becoming increasingly evident (namely in the Algarve) and it is necessary to take measures to adapt to its effects, the rational use of water in crops, namely through the study of cultural practices aimed at maximizing the productive capacity with a decrease in irrigation allocations, together with the use of genetic resources from traditional varieties (mainly fruit trees), which are not demanding in terms of irrigation, gain renewed interest and centrality», frames DRAP Algarve.

The candidacy presented by DRAP Algarve to the PRR was precisely to "study these issues".

The session will be free of charge, open to the general public, with no pre-registration required.
