Portimão promotes cycle of webinars with “Tips for Parents”

During this school year

The Municipality of Portimão will promote a cycle of webinars on “Tips for Parents” during this school year. 

The objective is to provide those responsible for children and young people with an opportunity to share knowledge for reflection, around various topics of student development.

The first actions, aimed at parents and guardians, are scheduled for November 30th and December 7th and 13th, always at 17 pm, addressing topics such as food, language and the importance of autonomy.

On the 30th, the webinar will focus on the theme “Language in child development”, clarifying parents and guardians of preschool children about language disorders and the stages of linguistic development, without forgetting the warning signs in the first childhood and the role of the family, topics addressed by specialists Ana Alberto, Sara Teixeira and Patrícia Barros.

Ana Alberto has a degree in Speech Therapy since 2004, has a Postgraduate and Improvement of Child Development since 2009 and a Master's Degree in Sensory and Cognitive Development.

Sara Teixeira has a degree in Speech Therapy since 2012, has a Portuguese Sign Language Course – Initiation Level and a Postgraduate Degree in Language Disorders in Childhood.

Graduated in Speech Therapy since 2016, Patrícia Barros has a degree in Psychomotor Rehabilitation and has experience in intervening in the field of neurodevelopmental disorders since 2008.

The webinar scheduled for December 7th, under the suggestive title “Sugar, no thanks!”, aims to raise awareness of reducing sugar in the diet and present tips for preparing healthy snacks, aimed at parents and guardians of 1st cycle students.

The approach will be taken by nutritionist Débora Ganda, graduated in Nutrition from the University of Algarve in 2019 and with a curricular internship at Albufeira City Council and an internship for access to the Order of Nutritionists at Imortal Desportivo Clube, which gives her experience in the area. sporty.

At the end of this year's cycle, the December 13 webinar will have the theme "Growing up safe - Overprotection or autonomy" and invites parents and guardians of 1st cycle students to reflect on the importance of autonomy in the child's development process .

The action will be in charge of Marina Carvalho, graduated in Clinical Psychology and Master in Health Psychology by ISPA, and also having a PhD in Clinical Psychology by the University of Minho.

Specialist in Clinical and Health Psychology and in Psychotherapies, she is a certified psychotherapist and supervisor in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychotherapies by APTC, she is also the main assistant for Health at the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve and director of the Department of Psychology and Physical Education at ISMAT, where she is associate professor.

An integrated researcher at the Environmental Health Institute of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, Marina Carvalho is part of the Portuguese team of Health Behavior in School Age Children (OMS), with around 80 published works, eight awards and three recognitions.

The “Tips for Parents” cycle will continue in 2023, with more sessions planned for the 2nd and 3rd academic terms, to be held on dates to be announced, which will focus on the themes “Being a Teenager – parenting challenges”, “To better choose – the role of parents in the decision-making process” and “Social networks – impact on young people”.
