Pedro Castelo Branco replaces Nuno Marques as president of ABC

Inauguration is on the 8th

Pedro Castelo Branco is the new president of the Algarve Biomedical Center, replacing Nuno Marques, who for years was the “face” of the Academic Center for Research and Biomedical Training of the Algarve.

The inauguration of the future head of this entity, current leader of the Laboratory of Epigenetics and Human Diseases of the ABC, will take place on December 8th. Pedro Castelo Branco was elected at the meeting of the Executive Council of the academic center on the 25th of November.

At the time of farewell, Nuno Marques, who recently starred in a “war” that reached the courts with the Board of Directors of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário Algarvio (CHUA), motivated by the purchase of ventilators, guarantees that «it was a pride to have directed this fantastic team that did so much for the region and for the country».

«ABC assumes a central role in boosting the economy and is a reference for innovation, not only at a regional level, but also at a national and international level. I would also like to thank all employees, directors and management colleagues, as well as the institutions that collaborated and collaborated with us», adds the outgoing president.

Pedro Castelo Branco, for his part, speaks of the role that his «friend» Nuno Marques played as president, highlighting «the admirable work that he led and that elevated the mission of ABC in a unique way».

«It is an honor to preside over an institution that has served so much, and that I intend to continue to serve the region. I am aware of the weight of this responsibility, but I believe that, together with the entire ABC team and society in general, we will be able to continue to develop efforts towards an ever better Algarve», concludes the Associate Professor with Aggregation at Faculdade of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Algarve.
