Monuments in the Algarve host “NOVA Escola Sagres”, “Fábulas de Fedro” and “Zé Burrinho”

DiVaM’s programming – Promotion and Enhancement of Monuments has the theme “Heritage without borders”

Theater, educational workshops and a multidisciplinary show are the proposals of the DiVaM program – Dynamization and Valorization of Monuments that take place from 3 to 6 November, in the Fortress of Sagres, Ermida de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe (Vila do Bispo) and Roman Ruins of Milreu (I snapped).

The Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe hosts the presentation of the project “Zé do Burrinho e Chico Ovelha – Unplugged Tour 2022”, this Thursday, November 3, with sessions scheduled for 10:30 am and 14:00 pm.

This project, by Ao Luar Teatro – Ideias Culturais, promotes the recovery and valorization of the oral tradition of the Algarve's intangible cultural heritage, «in a fun, comic and musical animation, around the traditional Algarve songbook, the lenga lengas and the tongue twisters», says the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.

The artistic direction is by Rui Penas, with interpretation by Daniel Romeiro and Rui Penas, and executive production by Célia Martins. For more information contact: [email protected]

The NOVA School of Sagres, a project of the Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos, returns to Fortaleza de Sagres, on the 3rd, 4th and 5th, with playful-pedagogical activities for schools and the community.

This is the fifth edition of the project that promotes the exploration of a set of educational and scientific workshops, of a practical nature, ranging from the construction of a caravel, to the exploration of navigation instruments, to the measurement of time, robotics and programming, between others.

This year, some novelties are being prepared, such as the creation of a “Map without Borders”, where Sagres will be the center of the World, as well as “Histórias Contadas” which always presents a new story.

The 3rd and 4th of November will be entirely dedicated to the participation of the school community. Saturday, the 5th, from 14:00 pm to 17:30 pm, the NOVA School of Sagres is aimed at families and the general public.

Admission to the activities is free, but subject to prior appointment via email: [email protected]

Sunday, the 6th, at 11:00 am, the Roman Ruins of Milreu host the “Fábulas de Fedro – Yesterday, Today and Always”, a project promoted by ARCA – Associação Recreativa e Cultural do Algarve.

“Fábulas de Fedro – Yesterday, Today and Always” is a multidisciplinary show that crosses music and sand animation with the narratives of the Roman fabulist Fedro, with traditional tales told over various eras and generations by the Algarve population. The association intends to create an approximation to the stories that were told in the times of the Romans' passage through the territory, where the ruins of Milreu are located, making an intersection with stories from the traditional imagination.

The cast consists of Pilar Puyana, sand animator, Fernando Guerreiro, narrator, and the São Brás de Alportel Philharmonic Band, conducted by maestro Albano Neto.

Entrance is free, although subject to appointment through this link.
