A gathering dedicated to the theme “Medical and Pharmaceutical Matters in Naval Health”, with the presence of João Neto, director of the Pharmacy Museum, will take place on November 12, next Saturday, at 18:30 pm, in the temporary exhibition room “ This sea in the background”, on display at the Portimão Museum.
This is another conversation promoted by the Grupo de Amigos do Museu de Portimão (GAMP), where it will be possible to «understand how remarkable it was, at the beginning of the XNUMXth century. XIX, the development of pharmaceutical and medical sciences in support of the military in the battlefield, both at sea and on land».
“The scientific standardization of medicine and its prescription has led to greater effectiveness in the treatment and organization of portable apothecaries and assistance to the wounded”, according to the GAMP.
The portable apothecary of King D.Carlos that is on display at the Museum of Portimão, in the exhibition “Este mar ao fundo” – which was provided by the Pharmacy Museum – «is the result of this scientific path and the valorization of the profession pharmaceutical as health agents'.
