Human-sized puppets put on a show in Loulé

The show is part of the Contrapeso Festival program

The French company Plexus Polaire presents on Saturday, December 3rd, at 21 pm, at the Cineteatro Louletano, the show “Dracula – Lucy's Dream”, starring human-sized puppets.

After this company's last visit to Portugal, which sold out Teatro Nacional D. Maria II within the scope of Fimfa LX21, Yngvild Aspeli, the company's artistic director, was inspired by the story of Bram Stoker with a particular focus on women for its visual adaptation of the famous myth of Dracula.

The show “Dracula – Lucy's Dream”, through human-sized puppets and the double presence of the actor-puppeteer, focuses on Lucy's experience and her fight against the inner demon embodied by Dracula, which represents the domination and dependence of a destructive force.

This is one of the seven shows that Festival Contrapeso presents in Loulé, from the 1st to the 4th of December, in what is its 2nd edition.

This year, the Festival presents an international program, focusing on theater and jazz, and brings 25 artists from 12 nationalities to the Algarve. In addition, there are physical comedy workshops, open rehearsals and a multimedia exhibition.

“From Paris With Love” is the theme of this second edition of the Festival, inspired by the origins of its artistic directors, Carolina Santos and Marco Martins, presenting shows and artists they came across when they lived in Paris, and who, in a way, influenced or inspired.

Festival Contrapeso takes place in Loulé at Cineteatro Louletano, Auditorium of Solar da Música Nova, Casa da Cultura de Loulé, Casa do Meio-Dia and Casa da Mákina and is an initiative of Mákina de Cena.
