Greengrocers are already working in the two Urban Vegetable Gardens in Tavira

Horta Figueira and Horta Amendoeira were visited by the Seed Project promoters

The gardeners signed, on the 21st, the regulation of the Urban Gardens of Tavira, after a visit to two of these gardens and a session to share and publicize the results achieved.

The first visit was to Horta Figueira, located next to the Municipal Swimming Pools, followed by Horta Amendoeira, in the space of the Centro de Experimentação Agrária de Tavira (CEAT), provided for this purpose by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve.

The session culminated in a moment of sharing, at the premises of the CEAT headquarters, where the entities that sponsored and played a leading role in this initiative took the floor to share their views on the Healthy Neighborhoods program, the Seed Project and the experiences and results achieved.

Emphasis was given to the participation and testimonies of gardeners, who were the main protagonists of the Seed Project.

These were invited to share their experience about the path taken and what it means for each one to be part of this community production process, made possible with the installation of these community gardens, which will follow the practices of Organic Agriculture and call for the promotion of literacy and self-determination as well as the importance of short agri-food circuits.

The vegetable garden installed at CEAT has 36 plots worked by the gardeners, plus an experimental plot.
