International Organ Festival takes concerts and visits to Tavira

The organ master Dinarte Machado will guide the visits

A visit to the organs of four churches in Tavira and two concerts mark the passage of the Algarve International Organ Festival through the city, on the 17th, 18th and 25th of November, organized by Associação Cultural Música XXI, with the support of the Municipality. from Tavira.

Thus, on the 17th, from 16:00 pm, a visit to the pipe organs of the churches of Misericórdia, Santiago (16:30 pm), Nossa Senhora das Ondas (17:00 pm) and Carmo (17:30 pm) is planned.

It is a historical, musical and heritage itinerary under the guidance of the organ master Dinarte Machado, responsible for the restoration of Tavira's organs.

The Câmara de Tavira explains that «with this initiative, it is possible to understand the functioning and mechanisms for sound production, the different timbres/registers and their combinations, the historical context and the heritage importance, as well as discover the differences between these instruments unique».

This visit will also be the opportunity to get to know and learn more about the future of the organ that will be installed in the Church of Nossa Senhora do Carmo.

In Tavira, the program also has two musical moments. On the 18th, at 21:00, the concert by Matteo Cordioli and Michele Tomaz (singing) takes place at the Igreja da Misericórdia and, on the 25th, at the same time, the performance of Joris Verdin takes place in the Church of Santiago. (organ and harmonium).
