There are many movies to watch, at different times and for different ages.

The French Film Festival comes to Faro and Lagos, from the 15th to the 20th of November, bringing the best of French-speaking cinema to Algarve spectators.

The French Film Festival is back on the big screen, after two last editions made under strict conditions, for its 23rd edition. Em Faro, the Festival takes place at Cinema NOS Algarve, with an extensive program that covers the different sections of the Festival: previews (films that will soon premiere in Portuguese cinemas), Unreleased Films (whose screening in theaters is not yet guaranteed in our country ), Segunda Chance (films that have already been in Portuguese cinemas and can now be reviewed), Cinema à Mesa (a tribute to films about gastronomy) and CineJovem (for the younger ones).

Waiting for Bojangles by Regis Roinsard

On the 17th, at 19:00, the film is shown Simone – The Journey of the Century by Olivier Dahan, on the history of French politics Simone Veil, who shook his time for defending a humanist message of overwhelming relevance.

The following day, the public will be able to review two films that have already premiered in Portuguese theaters as Goliath by Frédéric Tellier and Notre Dame on Fire by Jean-Jacques Annaud.

On Saturday, November 19, titles that belong to the unpublished section are shown, such as Madeleine Collins by Antoine Barraud, a work about Judith, a woman who maintains a double life between Switzerland and France, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2021; and Waiting for Bojangles by Regis Roinsard with Virginie Efira, Romain Duris and Grégory Gadebois.

On Sunday it is shown Delicioso, a period film that takes place at the dawn of the French Revolution and is part of the Cinema à Mesa section.

The following day, one of the highlights of the CineJovem program is shown: The Boy Nicholas - Happiness Can't Wait, which won the Best Film Award at the Annecy Film Festival 2022, the largest animated film festival in the world.

The film is a delightful story about the creators of the iconic character The Boy Nicholas, namely the illustrators Jean-Jacques Sempé, who died last August, and René Goscinny. As her narrative progresses, the little character enters the creators' studio, questioning them with great humor.

Later, and also in animation, it is displayed Lia's Adventures, about a shrewd young orphan, who lives on the streets of the City of Mist and who, in the company of her three pet weasels, will live a series of adventures.

Finally, on the last day of the Feast in Faro, the public can see Goodbye Mr Haffmann, made in 2022 by Fred Cavayé, which addresses the persecution of the Jewish people in Paris in the 40s of the last century.

In Lagos, the Festival takes place from the 15th to the 19th of November, at the Municipal Library, with four free sessions and four films: Madeleine Collins, What Unites Us, The Test e Waiting for Bojangles.

The French Film Festival is part of the Portugal-France 2022 Season, an initiative that aims to strengthen ties between the two countries and which has various cultural activities.
