Faro: Dance show raises awareness of the prevention of abuse against minors

On Friday

The Splash School of Dance Faro will present the show “Requiem for a Dream”, raising awareness of the protection against sexual abuse of children and young people, on Friday, November 18th, at 20 pm, in the auditorium of the regional delegation of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth ( IPDJ), in Faro.

This is “an exhibition of dance with light and reading of original texts, which raises awareness of the issue of protecting children and young people who have suffered sexual abuse and child exploitation”.

«The story is told of several children, essentially girls, who go through various situations of exploitation and abuse and therefore see their dreams disappear. Their evolution and inner growth are followed, as well as their fight against dangerous situations with the hope of overcoming their fears, which stem from their suffering and sorrows, and thus achieving resilience, security and peace», according to the Divineglow association, who organizes the event.

The show has the participation of groups of young people of various age groups who build the narrative on stage.

With this creation, the Farense dance school «seeks to stimulate and strengthen working relationships between cultural facilities and non-professional cultural agents in the region, and at the same time tries to spread the message of the need to empower children, in this case children/young people through strengthening of personal, social and professional skills».

This show is associated with two events, the day to combat child exploitation (June 12) and the European day for the protection of children against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse (November 18) and has the support of the Directorate of Culture of Algarve, through PAACA and with the Algarve Directorate of the IPDJ.
