Two tons of waste collected in the coastal area of ​​Albufeira

The municipality of Albufeira, volunteers, companies and institutions delivered to Algar two tons of garbage collected in an underwater and land cleaning action in the coastal area of ​​Albufeira Marina, last Sunday, November 20th. 

This year, the action had a record participation, having joined 36 employees responsible for underwater cleaning and 25 volunteers in charge of the land area.

The initiative of the Municipality of Albufeira was put into practice in partnership with the Associação para Investigação do Meio (AIMM), Easy Divers, Marina de Albufeira, Association of Professional Fisheries of Albufeira, Association of Sport and Recreational Whaling Fishing, Maritime Police of Albufeira, Fishing Dock and the Volunteer Firefighters of Albufeira.

After the initiative, José Carlos Rolo, president of the municipality, leaves a message of thanks «to all the entities that in some way were part of the initiative» reinforcing «the importance of these activities in the maintenance of the public space and in the conservation of the sea, of the species marine areas, beaches and, consequently, public health».

 

 

Cristiano Cabrita, vice-president of the municipality and responsible for matters of the sea, revealed that «these initiatives are a reflection of a municipality concerned with the environment, with the sea and with marine life, as well as, they are proof of that the Executive is dedicated to the prevention and cleaning of what is the ex-libris of the city, the beach».

The vice-president of the municipality also expressed "the greatness of these actions for the continuity of environmental quality and marine sustainability", characteristics, annually, attributed to the beaches of Albufeira.
