Domes Lake Algarve, in Vilamoura, was elected, by the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence 2023, the best hotel in Europe by the water.
Located between the Marina and Vilamoura beach, this luxury hotel with 192 rooms and suites is a Mediterranean-inspired project, similar to the concept of the Domes Resorts group in the Greek islands. The hotel has a lake and privileged access to Praia da Falésia, three swimming pools and gardens.
On the hotel's private lake is Makris on the Lake, the new fine dinning restaurant that features a theatrically presented seven-course tasting menu.
With the signature of chef Petros Dimas, Makris on the Lake's dishes feature fresh ingredients, with which the chef presents Greco-Mediterranean flavors. The letter changes according to the season and the products available in the markets and local agriculture.
But there is also SORA Beach: beach restaurant where Executive Chef Vitor Moreira proposes a menu with dishes inspired by the Algarve coast, in an interpretation of Portuguese flavors. Here, the options range from seafood to steaks, with emphasis on the seafood cataplana, clams à Bulhão Pato and Algarve sweets.
At Domes Lake Algarve there are also treatments from the Soma Spa & Domes Wellness Concept.
At the Condé Nast Johansens 2023 Excellence Awards gala, which took place in London, five more Portuguese hotels were distinguished: Verride Palácio de Santa Catarina, in Lisbon, in the “Best Small & Exclusive Property” category, Terra Nostra Garden Hotel, in the Azores, as “Best Countryside Hotel”, Santiago de Alfama, in Lisbon, as “Best Breakfast”, Torre de Gomariz Wine & Spa Hotel, in Cervães, in the category “Best for Weddings, Parties & Celebrations” and Palácio Estoril Hotel Golf & Wellness, as “Best for Meetings and Conferences”.
Awards results are based on public online voting, customer satisfaction surveys and inspection reports carried out by Condé Nast Johansens.
