Two days of ARTSIT in Faro: International Conference on Art, Technology and Interactivity

ArtsIT is a European scientific forum on art, media, performing arts and technology

CIAC – Center for Research in Arts and Communication, from the University of Algarve, joined ArtsIT and will host the 11th EAI International Conference: ArtsIT, Interactivity & Game Creation, taking place on the next 21st and 22nd of November, in a hybrid format (in person at Hotel Eva Senses Faro and online).

For two days, researchers, artists and academics will present and debate the links between art and technology.

Among the main highlights is the panel “Videogame Culture and Creativity”, with the participation of the Videogame Culture working group of the Council of Europe (Digital Citizenship Education project), as well as several guest speakers: Monika Fleischmann, Wolfgang Strauss and Rudolfo Thursdays.

The duo Fleischmann and Strauss will address digital media and artistic performance in a session entitled “New Media Art – A Thinking Space for Digitality?".

CIAC artist and researcher Rudolfo Quintas will reflect on artistic practice and the sound dimension, with “Can I hear you dance? and eco-acoustic embodiment".

The panel "Culture of Videogames and Creativity", taking place on the second of the day of the event, addresses the possibilities of integrating video games into everyday life and
education of European citizens.

Among many other participants, the mathematician and visual artist António Araújo (CIAC) will also show several works on the dialogue between geometry, computers and visual arts.

The event is organized by researchers Jorge Carrega (CIAC/UAlg) and Anthony Brooks (University of Aalborg, Denmark), with the support of the Câmara
Municipal de Faro and the Higher School of Education and Communication at UAlg.

In addition to the sessions and thematic panels, two moments are planned outside the conference space: a port of honor at the Municipal Museum of Faro, on the afternoon of the 20th, and a closing musical moment at the Gimnásio Clube de Faro, day 22, evening.
