Cristóvão Norte: Nuno Marques’ departure shows how PS «asphyxiates regional life»

PSD president praises Nuno Marques' work

Cristóvão Norte, president of the PSD/Algarve, considers that the Nuno Marques leaves as leader of the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC) shows that the PS «asphyxiates regional life».

In a statement sent to the media, the president of the Algarve Social Democrats recognizes that the departure of Nuno Marques does not surprise him.

«The endless war that they waged [between the ABC and the Board of Directors of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve] underlined how undesirable projects for change that break the lethargy that the region often goes through are», considers Cristóvão Norte.

The PSD president goes further and makes harsh criticisms of this whole process.

«The hegemony of the PS and its ramifications at all levels of local, regional and national decision-making are incompatible with the birth of any other major foci that are not subordinated to the PS. This, increasingly, and this is notorious in the Algarve, suffocates regional life, penetrates institutions, makes them less plural and demands reflection from those who want a freer and more open society”, he says.

Finally, Cristóvão Norte is grateful for the work of Nuno Marques, who was president of the ABC for six years, highlighting the fact that he tried «to do things differently and fight for it, with his faults and virtues».
