Aqua Portimão launches canning project in honor of the region's culture

The project will run for three years.

“Sabe a Mar” is the name of the canning project launched by Aqua Portimão to honor the culture of the region.

The starting point of the project is the launch of an exclusive production of 2.500 canned sardines – handmade and packed manually, following a recipe with 100 years of history used at the Boavista Factory – which are available for purchase at Aqua Portimão and in the future also at locations around the city.

In this initial phase, the project has a culinary partnership with Chef Hugo Nascimento, who has developed exclusive recipes with sardines as the star, and a digital feature with comedian David Cristina who will walk around Portimão to talk to the most charismatic characters and discover the most characteristic local expressions of the region's identity.

«This is a project for everyone: from Portimonenses, to the Portuguese from north to south, to lovers of national history and gastronomic Portugueseness. Sabe a Mar is the perfect description that we can attribute to the city of Portimão and it is a great pride to be able to start such a large and beautiful celebration», says Marta Costa, responsible for the project developed by Aqua Portimão.

«We are ambitious and have launched a large-scale project, throughout which we will pay gastronomic, artistic and cultural tributes, valuing partners, talent and local entities», reads the note.

The project will last for three years, during which it will explore the different axes from art and culture to gastronomy. Preserves are available for 5 euros.
