AlgarveShopping keeps Christmas lights off until December 1st to save energy

From the 1st of December, the Christmas lights will only be on from 18:00

The AlgarveShopping shopping center, in Guia, will keep the Christmas lights off in the centers until the 1st of December, to save energy.

This measure thus reinforces the other decisions that had already been announced: during the Christmas season, the shopping centers managed by Sonae Sierra reduce the number of decorative lights, all lighting will be high-efficiency (LED) and, from on the 1st, the Christmas lights will remain off during the day, until 18:00, to reinforce energy savings.

“The preservation of the environment is a priority concern for AlgarveShopping and, in this sense, we have been adopting measures that make the shopping center's energy consumption increasingly efficient. These measures are reflected in our results, which show an increasing savings from year to year”, says Carla Martins, director of AlgarveShopping.

This announcement follows the recently launched “Energia Positiva” campaign, with the motto “We don't notice much, but the planet does”, which aims to increasingly reinforce the reduction of energy consumption in all shopping centers managed by Sonae Sierra.

Among the measures that have been implemented and that have already made it possible to reduce energy consumption by 22% this year in assets in Portugal and by 23% in AlgarveShopping, compared to 2019, the centralized technical management system that manages air conditioning stands out. , lighting, water and energy consumption, the irrigation system that has rainfall sensors, energy-saving sensors in the faucets and the fact that the center lighting is Led.
