All establishments in the Rio Arade School Group (Lagoa municipality), from pre-school to 3rd cycle of basic education, participated, on November 9, at 11:09 am, in the public exercise «A Terra Treme».

In that grouping, the exercise involved the entire school community, that is, 1240 students, 100 teachers and 77 non-teachers.

«A Terra Treme» is a nationwide exercise to raise awareness of seismic risk, and takes place in schools across the country.

The exercise itself comprises the practice of three simple gestures that can make a difference for those who practice them in the event of an earthquake.

The action took place for one minute, and the participants, individually or collectively, were invited to perform the three self-protection gestures: Download – Protect – Wait.

This initiative is part of the activities that are part of the National Strategy for Preventive Civil Protection, in which the Municipality of Lagoa joined, as well as the Rio Arade School Grouping.

It aims to empower the population to know how to act before, during and after an earthquake, raising awareness of the fact that they live in a risk society, and challenging them to get involved in the process of building safer and more resilient communities to disasters. .
