“X Miles of the Guadiana” reconnect VRSA and Ayamonte

Applications are open until the 3rd of November.

The cross-border race “X Milhas do Guadiana” will connect again, on November 6th, the cities of Vila Real de Santo António and Ayamonte, in a route of about 17 kilometres.

The highlight is the crossing of the International Bridge over the Guadiana River.

The match will take place at 11:15 am (Portuguese time), on Avenida Ministro Duarte Pacheco, next to the João Ilídio Setúbal Pavilion, in VRSA, while the finish line will await the athletes on the Spanish side, at the Blas Infante Stadium, in Ayamonte.

In this 27th edition, the event pays tribute to Jose Manuel Lobo Militão, one of the unavoidable figures in athletics in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António and mentor of the X Miles of the Guadiana, recently deceased.

The fact that this competition crosses, in its course, a bridge that unites two countries gives it an international character, unique in the modality, and the participation of a thousand athletes is expected.

Applications are open until the 3rd of November and can be done online. here

Athletes over 18 years of age can participate in this race, registered individually or collectively, federated or not, who will be integrated into one of the nine available levels.

Three types of classification will be awarded: male and female individual general; individual by levels and collective by teams.

The «X Miles of the Guadiana» are organized by the Mixed Sports Commission made up of the Municipal Councils of VRSA, Castro Marim and Ayamonte, the Municipal Sports Division of Ayamonte, Grupo Desportivo Pic-Nic and Clube de Atletismo de Ayamonte.

The “X Miles of Guadiana” athletics event had its first edition in 1992, in a joint organization of the Municipalities of Vila Real de Santo António and Ayamonte (Spain), having marked, at that time, the construction of the Guadiana International Bridge.
