São Brás celebrates equality with awareness and social measures linked to feminine hygiene

Measure was launched on Municipal Day for Equality

Awareness-raising actions on equality in schools and the first steps of a new social measure to make feminine hygiene products available to young people in the county marked the celebrations of the Municipal Day for Equality in São Brás de Alportel, on the 24th of October.

The project that was launched aims to ensure that young women from families with less economic resources have access to the feminine hygiene products they need.

On the 24th, the working group in charge of carrying out the measure met for the first time, which brings together the Municipal Education Office, the Social Services Unit and the José Belchior Viegas School Group, «entities that are draw up the rules for granting support and the bases of the partnership protocol between the municipality and the Agrupamento de Escolas», according to the municipality.

This partnership “should be extended to a more diverse set of entities, including the Association of Parents and entities in the health area, for an intervention that is intended to be integrated, in favor of promoting equality and health for all”. added the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel.

 

 

As for the cycle of activities in São Paulo schools, designed to «help the youngest to grow with more equality and inclusion tools to build a world where everyone can truly be equal in rights and opportunities», it will be promoted until October 31st. , under the coordination of the Municipal Equality Councilor.

“Let's reduce the levels of inequality” was the challenge that the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality launched this year to all Portuguese municipalities.

Informing citizens about these asymmetries, through data disaggregated by sex, on equality and non-discrimination and mobilizing them to combat the various discriminations in all dimensions and areas of daily life are objectives of this initiative.
