Promotion of Active and Healthy Aging motivates a week of activities in Loulé

Program of the Week for the Promotion of Active and Healthy Aging culminates with the Social Fair 2022

Loulé hosts, between the 11th and 15th of October, the Week for the Promotion of Active and Healthy Aging, as a “Friendly City for the Elderly”.

The Week includes cultural, sporting, recreational and awareness-raising activities whose main target is the elderly population.

The activities start on the morning of the 11th, at Loulé Municipal Park, with an open session of relaxation techniques, a make-up workshop and a Tai-Chi class.

As a way of alerting the elderly who are often victims of scams, Palácio Gama Lobo hosts, from 10:00 am on the 12th, an open session promoted jointly by DECO, GNR and APAV, with the aim of preventing possible fraudulent situations. and aggressive sales, as well as identifying warning signs in the protection and safety of the elderly.

At the Ginásio dos Espanhóis, there will be talk about the Loulé Senior Dance Company as a way of promoting health

On the 13th of October, there will be a round table in the Auditorium of Convento do Espírito Santo on the challenges of home support, while, at the headquarters of the Senior University of Loulé, the technicians from ACES Algarve Central will talk about changes in swallowing.

Interested parties will be able to participate in the +Active Walk that starts at 18:00 and will provide a moment of socializing and physical activity.

The Week continues with activities on the 14th, starting with the online workshop "The rights of elderly people in situations of extreme social vulnerability" (registration via phone 289400882/6), the session "Emotionally", which takes place at the Parish Center and Social de Loulé, and the integrated action in the cycle of conversations in the Municipal Library of Loulé on the importance of sexuality.

The program of the Week for the Promotion of Active and Healthy Aging culminates with the Social Fair 2022.

Under the motto “Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development”, the event is part of the work developed by the Loulé Social Network, with the collaboration of local private social solidarity institutions and public bodies and aims to make known the work carried out. by the entities that, in the municipality's territory, work in the social area, as well as the partnership dynamics that are being created and strengthened.

Performances, street animation, live work exhibition, dance workshops, puppet theater, play meeting are some of the initiatives carried out by the partners.

With this Week, the Câmara de Loulé intends to create a dynamic space for reflection and learning, open to all citizens and institutional partners that contribute to promoting a better quality of life for the population aged 65 and over and their families.

Loulé is a Municipality that has carried out important policies aimed at the elderly, in a clear commitment to providing active and healthy aging to this segment of the population. Recently, the village of Alte was, moreover, the place chosen for receive the National Observatory on Aging.
