Mértola Bakery wins award for the best bread in Portugal

The bakery Seara de Pão, in São Miguel do Pinheiro, won the distinction “O Melhor dos Melhores” and a gold medal in the 11th National Bread Contest. The company Costa, Esperança, Dias e João, from São Pedro de Sólis, won the gold medal in the category of Alentejo bread. Both are located in the municipality of Mértola.

“Pão de São Miguel” obtained the distinction “Best of the Best” in the 11th National Contest for Traditional Portuguese Bread, held by CNEMA in conjunction with the Qualifica/oriGIn Portugal association. The main objective of the contest was to reward, promote, value and publicize the genuine Portuguese Traditional Bread.

The municipality of Mértola thus once again won the top prizes of the contest, since, in addition to the “O Melhor dos Melhores” distinction, won by Seara de Pão, Costa, Esperança, Dias e João, won the gold medal, within the category of Alentejo bread.
