Loulé congratulates Dino d'Santiago with “Golden Globe”: «a pride for all of us»

The Loulé Chamber welcomed the award of the “Golden Globe” for best performer to Dino d'Santiago, received last Sunday, October 2nd.

«Dino is a source of pride for all of us, one of the most prestigious sons of this land, with a remarkable artistic career but who, also from a human point of view, has become a model and a reference above all for young people, for all the values ​​and messages he conveys and for the perseverance he has had to achieve his dreams», says Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé.

«In a territory where more than 50 nationalities live together, Dino D'Santiago is today the main example - and certainly the most media - of the richness of the multiculturalism of this county that has borne many fruits in different areas, from music, to sports, from theater to cinema, from medicine to politics. Congratulations, Dino! », he adds.

Creator, musician, composer, cartoonist and activist for the arts and cultures of the World, Dino D'Santiago was born on December 13, 1982, in Quarteira, from a Cape Verdean family (his parents are from Santiago Island).

He is one of the mentors of the sociocultural movement “Sou Quarteira”.

Despite his professional life, «he does not forget his land and continues to be a constant presence in Quarteira and to support the development of the city where he was born», recalls the municipality.

As he mentioned at the Golden Globes gala, the artist is now committed to promoting the SIC (Success, Inclusion and Citizenship) project at Escola Secundária Drª Laura Ayres – the one that was his learning space and which is one of the schools with the most nationalities across the country.

It is today a voice of the world and the mixture. It works the Cape Verdean tradition with the contemporary weight of global electronics, as evidenced by the anthem “Kriolu”, with the collaboration of Julinho KSD and production by Branko. She has already stepped on stages such as Super Bock Super Rock (Sesimbra), NOS Primavera Sound (Porto), MED (Loulé), FMM (Sines), among many others.

Ambassador of Cape Verde's music, Dino D'Santiago is one of the main faces of the cultural movement “Lisboa Criola”.

This Golden Globe is in addition to many other distinctions that the artist has had throughout his career, with emphasis on the Play Awards (Best Album, Best Solo Artist and Critics Award, in 2019; Best Album, Best Male Artist and Critics Award in 2021; Best Male Artist and Critics Award in 2022), nomination for the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Portuguese Artist in 2020.
