Registration for the “Barão de São João – Walk & Art Fest” opens tomorrow

All activities are free again, but subject to registration

The festival that combines hiking and art returns to the village of Barão de São João, in the municipality of Lagos, from the 4th to the 6th of November, offering a very diversified program that tries to reach a wide audience. Registration opens tomorrow, October 13th, through the event website: www.walkartfest.pt

In a joint organization of the Municipality of Lagos and the Almargem Association, which has, once again, the partnership of the local artistic community, this 5th edition of the “Barão de São João – Walk & Art Fest” is based at the Centro Cultural da village.

This year, the event will have a new space in the center of the village, where many and diverse activities will take place, Barão ConVida: poetry, screening of the documentary “Viver do Quê – Histórias de uma Vida de Trabalho no Feminino”, but also workshops cyanotypes, stamps and wellness activities such as yoga and meditation.

As in past editions, a collective exhibition of 17 works by 16 artists will once again be on display during the days of the event. Participants will have the opportunity to walk around 4 kilometers, starting at the Barão de São João Cultural Center, which travels along paths within the forest perimeter, but also through the streets of the beautiful and unique village.

 

The program has a total of 84 activities spread over the three days of the event: 42 hikes, 4 mountain bike routes, 14 activities for children, 11 wellness activities and 10 workshops.

All activities are free again, but subject to registration.

As usual, Saturday night there will be a concert, this year with Gustavo Miranda and José Martin, the “Vizinhos”, an Afro-Latin American fusion that promises a night full of animation and good energy.

For those looking for physical activity combined with the discovery of nature, there are many hikes proposed, of different distances and levels of difficulty, but also of different themes and in various places in the parish.

In this edition, there is a wide range of activities dedicated to the youngest, with the objective that families can enjoy this event. Activities range from yoga, peddy paper, treasure hunts, landart to a small family hike.

The event will once again count on several partnerships, such as tourist entertainment companies and official entities that will promote many of these activities.

The initiative is part of the Algarve Walking Season (AWS) event calendar, which includes three more hiking festivals in the region: Walking Festival Ameixial, Alcoutim Hiking Festival and Monchique Hiking Festival.

AWS is an initiative coordinated by the QRER Cooperative – Cooperative for the Development of Low Density Territories, supported by Turismo de Portugal and the Algarve Tourism Region.
