Antique Music Meeting Francisco Rosado is back in Loulé

All concerts are free admission.

The XXII Meeting of Early Music by Loulé Francisco Rosado starts this Saturday, October 8, and, throughout the month, will help to demystify classical music.

In this edition, the Meeting will feature artists from Portugal, Holland, Italy, Spain and France, with musical proposals that span from the Middle Ages to the XNUMXth century, including seven musical moments and two pedagogical activities, not least because this is a very important aspect of philosophy. of this initiative – «promote the didactic part and contribute to demystifying classical music».

The event kicks off at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, in Alte, at 21 pm on the 00th, with the concert “Lights and shadows: Arias from Italian and German cantatas from the Baroque”, by the Ensemble Armilar. It is a group formed by Portuguese interpreters, whose program is exclusively dedicated to music originally written for soprano, recorder and basso continuo, in Europe in the 8th century.

The public will also have the opportunity to hear two soloists who dedicate their work to baroque instruments: on October 14, at 21 pm, the Church of N. Srª de Fátima, in Almancil, will receive guitarist and lutenist Tiago Matias, in a concert dedicated to the songs of the 00th century troubadours, and on October 15, at 19:00 pm, at the Church of S. Francisco in Loulé, the flutist and well-known youtuber Sarah Jeffery will give a concert focused on the historic journey of the recorder, with the support of electronic technology.

The viola da gamba will be the protagonist of the concert that follows, by the Italian group Guerra Amorosa – “Sonatas for Viola D'Amore and Baritone” -, whose repertoire will take us on a journey to the end of the 22th century. It is on the 21nd, from 00 pm, at the Church of Nossa Srª da Assunção, in Querença.

And on the same weekend, on the 23rd, at 21 pm, from Spain, the Vandalia Ensemble will present, through the affections of voices and harp, the Cancioneiro de la Sablonara – from Madrid to Bavaria. The concert takes place in Quarteira, at Nossa Srª da Conceição Church.

The Parish Church of Loulé will be filled with vocal and instrumental music from the Middle Ages, with the well-known group Alla Francesca, from France, on 29 October.

To close the XXII Meeting, the Ensemble de Flutas de Loulé is once again present in this initiative. This time he invites the harp class of the National Conservatory to a concert on the 30th, at 19:00, in the Church of S. Sebastião, in Boliqueime.

This year's edition of the Meeting will have, in addition, a strong pedagogical component, through a lecture on baroque guitar, with Tiago Matias, and a masterclass on recorder, with Sarah Jeffery.

«The objective is to introduce new generations of music students to Baroque instruments and their repertoire, as well as to establish a direct relationship between their own instruments and their history, in a theoretical-practical context», says the Chamber of Deputies. Loulé.

«The pedagogical work that Encontros de Música Antiga have been carrying out over the years has already made it possible for hundreds of students and enthusiasts of all age groups in the Algarve region to learn and have contact with ancient instruments and ancient music. only, in line with the work that is also done by the Conservatory of Music of Loulé», he adds.

This event is also a tribute to the figure of its founder, Professor Francisco Rosado, who gave national and international relevance to these Early Music Encounters.
