EMARP has already delivered 600 kg of «solidarity» plastic caps to the association “Espiral de Vontades”

Caps are intended to support David Duarte, an 11-year-old boy

The Municipal Water and Waste Company of Portimão (EMARP) has already raised, between March and October, within the scope of the “Tampinhas Solidárias” project, 600 kilos of plastic lids and 50 kilos of cork stoppers, which were delivered to Associação Espiral de Wills, under the protocol signed in April.

Under the motto «All to take care of», the project included the installation of four supports located in Alameda da Praça da República, in the riverside areas of Portimão and Alvor, and in the center of Mexilhoeira Grande.

«The structures for the collection of lids are intended to inspire good practices, in line with the principles of Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility, valuing a material that can be transformed and simultaneously converted into a monetary value that reverts to social causes», explains EMARP.

One of these social responsibility goals has to do with supporting David Duarte, an 11-year-old boy who was born with cerebral palsy and needs ongoing therapies appropriate to his situation.

During 2022, the counterpart of the “caps” delivered by EMARP to Associação Espiral de Vontades serves to support David.

The caps to be deposited in the structures must be made of plastic (high density polyethylene and polypropylene packaging lids), preferably food liquids – water, juices, detergents, shampoos, softeners or other similar types of packaging.

EMARP also delivers to Espiral de Vontades all cork stoppers received at its head office building.

«Small gestures, if replicated by all of us, surely make a difference, shape the commitment to sustainability and social responsibility and contribute to the well-being of our community», concludes EMARP.
