CDU demands from the Chamber "firm measures" against bad smell and noise from Algar's plant

Demand was made by the elected CDU in the Municipal Assembly of São Brás de Alportel

The CDU demanded from the São Brás de Alportel City Council “firm measures” to resolve the bad smell and noise associated with the Algar da Mesquita Organic Recovery Plant, in this municipality, following complaints from residents.

Mário Cunha, elected from the CDU in the Municipal Assembly of São Brás de Alportel, demanded, in an intervention in this body, «firm measures, namely involving the competent authorities in these matters, such as public health authorities, so that they can intervene directly with ALGAR» .

At stake are "complaints by residents that there were again problems with smells and noise, which were felt all over the area of Mesquita, Peral, Barracha and surroundings", frame the communists.

This situation, which has already happened in the past, was confirmed “by those who went to the place, as, incidentally, has always been happening when these complaints are verified”.

ALGAR, assures Mário Cunha, and “according to information provided to the CDU”, has maintained “a deafening silence about the complaints received, not responding to the residents of the area”.

In this way, the CDU argues that «it will not be too much to ask the executive to make all the necessary efforts so that the quality of life that is intended to characterize the county is not a vain slogan, but a reality».

«And these efforts cannot depend on any deference to the administration of ALGAR, but only subject to the obligation that we all have towards the municipality of São Brás de Alportel and its population. And that obligation requires firm measures so that we don't have to be holding meetings to deal with complaints in a cyclical way”, he concluded.
