APA promotes Education Week and Environmental Volunteering Initiatives in the Algarve

SEIVA takes place between the 8th and 16th of October throughout the region

The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) will once again promote the Environmental Education and Volunteering Initiatives Week (SEIVA) in the Algarve, between the 8th and 16th of October, with the first initiative taking place in Loulé. 

This is the exhibition “The Algarve and the New European Bauhaus”, which will take place at Mar Shopping, on the 8th, whose inauguration will be attended by the mayor of Loulé.

In addition, also on the 8th, Mar Shopping promotes the 4th edition of “Cleaning the Beach”, which will take place at Praia dos Salgados, between 9 am and 00 pm.

 

In addition to Loulé, also Olhão, Castro Marim, Faro, Tavira, Vila Real de Santo António, Monchique, Lagos, Portimão, Silves, São Brás de Alportel and Lagoa are part of the Week of Education and Environmental Volunteering Initiatives.

In Lagoa, three initiatives are planned, two of which are scheduled for the 8th. Thus, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, an In-person Workshop for the Collection of Seeds from the Autochthonous Flora is held, with Ivo Rosa, in the Municipal Park of Sítio das Fontes (Estômbar ), whose entries can be made here.

In the afternoon, from 14:30 pm to 16:30 pm, there is the In-person Workshop “Seed Balls at the Service of Biodiversity”, with registration here

On the 12th of October, from 10:00 am to 11:45 am, the exploratory tour “À Descoberta do Litoral” will take place, with Rosana Afonso, at Praia do Vale do Olival. Registrations here

 

 

SEIVA takes place within the scope of the “Environmental Volunteering for Water” project and has a network of project partners, celebrating the beginning of the hydrological year and the National Water Day.

This year's initiative will have as its theme the "Impact of Climate Change on Aquatic Ecosystems", with the aim of reinforcing a greater collective awareness of the importance of water in its multiple dimensions and, in a particular way, for the challenges that the region faces in different ways. water scarcity and structural drought.

«By understanding how water relates to climate, energy, food, economy and lifestyle, we hope to encourage Algarve citizens, in particular young people, to actively participate in the management of water resources, while showing that complex problems are not can be solved by looking at one component at a time and that in our world of specialization, solutions require cooperation, mutual respect and understanding of what to expect from others, experts or not.

During this event, 10 seminars/training actions, 19 environmental volunteering actions, 17 educational visits and seven exhibitions are planned, many of which are developed over several days, which are the result of the efforts of the APA-ARH Algarve team and the 62 partners that promote them in the 16 municipalities of the Algarve.
