AMAL approves renewal of partnership with Instituto Lusíada to support Zer0 Museum

The Municipalities will contribute with an annual global amount of 36 thousand euros

At the last meeting, AMAL – Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve approved the renewal of the partnership agreement with the Instituto Lusíada de Cultura, for another three years, to consolidate the Zer0 Museum, to be created in Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo (Tavira).

According to AMAL, this renovation «contributes to consolidate a project that has an unprecedented character in the country».

In the new contract, the Instituto Lusíada de Cultura undertakes to ensure a close link between its activities and the Cultural School plans.

In force since January 2020, the partnership with the Instituto Lusíada de Cultura provides for “actions that promote the installation of the Zer0 Museum, the functioning and promotion of its regional and international recognition, in particular through education and training initiatives for audiences, for contemporary art in its digital aspect».

Data from the Institute reveal that, since the beginning of the agreement, this project to raise awareness of digital art has reached around 6.000 students in 40 schools in 23 groups, involving 80 teachers from 30 different subjects, in 15 of the 16 Algarve municipalities. .

In the new contract, the Instituto Lusíada de Cultura also undertakes to ensure a close link between its activities and the Cultural School plans, prepared by the groups adhering to the National Arts Plan, promoting their contribution to the realization of initiatives of fostering cultural values ​​in an interdisciplinary way.

The Municipalities will contribute an annual global amount of 36 thousand euros, and the financial contribution of each one of them takes into account criteria such as the number of total population and the number of students in basic and secondary education.

Founded in 1982 and declared of public utility in 1991, the Instituto Lusíada de Cultura is a non-profit association governed by private law, which decided to sponsor the creation of the Zer0 Museum, a Contemporary Art Exhibition Center with a special focus on digital art.
