There will be a dance at the Fortress of Sagres

Dance will be around the “Rosa dos Ventos”

The “Baile da Rosa”, with lots of music and a picnic, will liven up this Sunday, September 18, at the Fortress of Sagres.

It is a staging of a popular ball taking place outdoors, around the “Rosa dos Ventos”, this enigmatic circular heritage element.

Participants will be welcomed at the entrance of the Fortress, by the sound of André Teixeira's accordion and by a couple of donkeys who carry their lunch and guide the group to the “Rosa dos Ventos”, the central location of this event.

At 10:30 am, the presentation of the Piajon group begins, with the traditional dance workshop, which will be guided by the dancer Isabel Duarte, a specialist in world dance, and who will challenge visitors to some circle dance steps. The workshop runs until 12:30, at which time you will stop for a break, in a moment of fraternization and sharing a picnic.

At 14:00 pm and back next to “Rosa”, Colectivo ST All Stars will provide a moment of body rhythm and percussion, continuing, meanwhile, with the Piajon for the dance that runs until 17:00, moment that closes the event.

Participants should bring a snack to share, and the organization will also provide a picnic. Transport provided by the Vila do Bispo City Council is also planned, with stops in the towns of Barão de São Miguel, Budens, Salema, Figueira, Raposeira, Vila do Bispo and Sagres.

Entries are free and must be made by the 15th of September. For more information and registration contact: 913857406 or 961320897.

The “Baile da Rosa” is a project by Conceição Gonçalves, Ana Simões and Albina Petrolati, promoted by Tertúlia Associação Sócio Cultural de Aljezur for DiVaM – Dynamization and Valorization of Monuments, this year with the theme “Heritage without Borders”.

Soon after, on the same day, at 18:00, the Auditorium of the Fortaleza de Sagres will host the Bandua concert, the second concert included in the “Concertos ao Entardecer” cycle. Bandua takes the popular songbook from the Beira Baixa region and faces it with an electronic folk reinterpretation.

Conceived by Portuguese-Brazilian musician and producer Tempura the Purple Boy and with the participation of Portuguese singer and musician Edgar Valente, Bandua represents the first time that these sounds, poems and songs are transformed into a melancholic Portuguese-language electronic pop record.

Admission is free, but subject to registration through: [email protected]

The cycle “Concertos ao Entardecer” is an initiative of ArQuente – Associação Cultural, supported by the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
