The University of Algarve has a new postgraduate degree in Cybersecurity, whose first edition will start this school year, in collaboration with VisionWare, a Portuguese company dedicated to information security that signed a «strategic protocol» with the Algarve Academy.
The new training offer is «a reflection of the current need and urgent trend felt by the Portuguese business market in the training and growing specialization of new professionals in the specific area of Cybersecurity», according to VisionWare.
Regarding the protocol between UAlg and the company, «it aims to strengthen the cooperation relationship between the two entities, but also to strengthen specialized education in the Information Security sector, and in particular, in the specific area of Cybersecurity» .
Paulo Águas, rector of UAlg, considers that the institution is already «a national reference in the research and teaching of computer engineering and electrical and computer engineering», since the Faculty of Sciences and Technology «presents a great offer of training, , masters, postgraduate courses» in this area.
«For all these reasons, partnerships in this area end up being an asset to our curricular offer and, consequently, to our students. This partnership will, above all, exchange pertinent and relevant information, including the development of initiatives and other projects of recognized interest by both institutions”, he adds.
Bruno Castro, Executive Director of VisionWare, assures us that the company «is working hard on the development of strategic partnerships that promote the development of skills and innovation, especially in the areas of Cybersecurity», in order to respond «to the needs of this market at the level of specialized human resources'.
The company is committed to «attracting talent and the best students coming directly from these higher education institutions to obtain their “professionalization” and entry into the job market».
«In the specific case of the University of Algarve, we will be able to promote greater cooperation between VisionWare and the CSIRT.UAlg team, that is, the UAlg team that is dedicated to responding to security incidents», he explains.
