The University of Algarve (UAlg) only had 78 vacancies to be filled in the 1st phase of the 2022/23 National Competition for Access to Higher Education and starts the year with 97% of vacancies filled, its highest placement rate ever.
The numbers of the first phase of the contest show that 1560 new students were placed at UAlg. This is, according to UAlg, «the third largest number of new students in the last 30 years» and a placement rate above the national average, something that happens for the third consecutive year. Of the «46 courses available, 37 sold out».
«According to the results of the 1st phase of the 2022/23 National Competition for Access to Higher Education, now published, the placement rate of UAlg (97%) was again higher than the country, standing at 5,6 percentage points above the national average», revealed the UAlg.
This means that, for the third consecutive year, the placement rate of UAlg exceeds 90%, «with 93% in 2020/21, 91% in 2021/22, reaching a new maximum with 97% in 2022/23».
According to a press release released by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, «49.806 new students are already placed in the 1st phase of the National Competition, with 84% of these students being placed in one of its first three application options».
At UAlg, the number of candidates in the 1st option «showed a growth of 2,9%, registering a new maximum»: There were 1717 candidates placing the Algarve university at the top of their choices, a number higher than the total number of vacancies offered, which are 1610, something that «happens for the first time.
Across the country, there was a 3,9% reduction in the number of candidates.
«Regarding the number of vacancies, which had never been less than 100, the UAlg also registered a new minimum», says the University of the Algarve.
For Paulo Águas, rector of UAlg, «these results reflect the importance that young people and families place on qualification, essential in the current knowledge society, and a growing trust in UAlg, which sees its position consolidated among Higher Education Institutions most in demand”.
The Enrollment and Enrollment process for students placed at the University of Algarve will take place between the 12th and 16th of September and is exclusively online.
This year, UAlg will once again make available to new students a hotline (+351 289 244 457) that will work from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 14:00 pm to 17:00 pm, «for clarification of doubts in the online registration process, accommodation and scholarships of social action study».
The school year begins on the 19th of September, with a formal session to welcome new students to the University of Algarve. The ceremony will begin at 8:45 am, in the Municipal Pavilion of Penha, in Faro.
From the 14th to the 24th of September, various solidarity, social, cultural and sporting activities will take place, with a view to the integration of new students.
