Tourists received at the airport of Faro with Algarve oranges

Initiative marks World Tourism Day

Turismo do Algarve and the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve will distribute around 200 kilos of Algarve oranges to tourists who arrive tomorrow, 27 September, World Tourism Day, at the international airport of Faro (Gago Coutinho airport). 

The action, which has the support of AlgarOrange, a non-profit association that represents about 40% of citrus production in the region, and also from Gago Coutinho Airport, the action takes place from 10:00 am with the presence of Fátima Catarina, vice president -president of Turismo do Algarve, Alberto Mota Borges, director of airport infrastructure, and Pedro Monteiro, Regional director of Agriculture and Fisheries in the Algarve.

In addition to distributing citrus fruit from the Algarve to tourists at the airport's arrivals area, gifts are also planned for those who pass through the network of 20 tourist information offices of Turismo do Algarve.

World Tourism Day has been celebrated since 1980 with the aim of promoting awareness of the social, cultural and political value of tourism. This year, the motto is «Rethinking Tourism» and aims to promote reflection around a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient sector.
