Silence that will sing fado at the window in the historic center of Portimão

The initiative is promoted by Boa Esperança Atlético Clube Portimonense

Adriana Marques, Melissa Simplício, Daniel Pinto Coelho and Luís Manhita will sing fado at the window, on the night of next Saturday, September 17, from 21 pm, in the historic center of Portimão.

The “Fado à Janela” initiative is promoted by Boa Esperança Atlético Clube Portimonense, from whose windows on the facade of its headquarters you can hear the fadistas.

«This unique event is inspired by the experiences of Portimão throughout the 1960s and 1970s and will once again allow the audience to appreciate, from the Igreja Matriz square, the musical gifts of the duo of instrumentalists and the four guest fado singers, who they will sing with feeling and soul themes familiar to the general public, which must previously request the respective invitations from the Parish Council of Portimão», says the City Council.

The show “refers to the time when canners waited at the window for the factories to ring, announcing the arrival of fishing trawlers loaded with fresh fish, which guaranteed them work and livelihood for their families”.

«While this wait was taking place, and in a neighborhood sharing, the women hummed the best-known fados, in some cases in competition and in very competitive strays, which gave rise to lively moments of popular expression, which Boa Esperança intends to evoke with this initiative, supported by the Portimão City Council and Portimão Parish Council», concludes the municipality.
