Quarteira Polvo Week runs until October 2 in 26 restaurants

The Quarteira Octopus Week started today, extending until 2 October, presenting the gastronomic creativity of 26 restaurants in the parish.

After a two-year break, the Association of Entrepreneurs of Quarteira and Vilamoura, with the support of the Municipality of Loulé and the Parish Council of Quarteira, is once again promoting gastronomic tourism and contributing to the promotion of one of the emblematic elements of the parish – octopus – which has always been linked to the sea and its capture.

The suggestions of the 26 participating restaurants are multiplied and range from the traditional to the boldest and most surprising, in a set of proposals that alternate between national and international cuisine.

This year, the opening of the Octopus Week was in charge of the students of the Professional Course in Cooking and Pastry at Escola Secundária Dr.ª Laura Ayres, who presented a showcooking held at Largo do Mercado in Quarteira.

The opportunity to taste the best octopus in the world is repeated on the 25th and 30th of September, at the hands of Chef José Moura, in the showcookings promoted by Docapesca, in the same place, at 10:00 am.

Close to the end of the fifth edition of the Octopus Week, on the 30th of September, the Rancho Folclórico Infantil e Juvenil de Loulé promises music, dance and tradition on the Vilamoura Marina promenade, starting at 21 pm.

With the objective of promoting an itinerary of experiences and flavors and the memory of the event, the Polvo Passport can be requested at any participating restaurant, which will collect the stamps of the places visited.

The event's partners are Docapesca – Portos and Lotas Inframoura, Marina de Vilamoura, Dr.ª Laura Ayres and Gelgarve Schools Group.
