Out Batata, in Camilo: another beach ban in Lagos

The ban on Camilo beach is the fourth that takes place in Lagos

Praia do Camilo, in Lagos, was this Thursday, September 22, closed to bathing, on the same day in which the potato, also in Lagos, saw this ban lifted.

The ban on Camilo beach is the fourth one that takes place in Lagos.

According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), water quality analyzes carried out by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) revealed “microbiological values above the reference parameters, with the water being unsuitable for bathing”.

This ban will remain in place until the results of new water quality analyzes indicate that the microbiological values are within the reference parameters.

Incidentally, that's what happened on Batata beach.

After yesterday the baths were banned, the counter-analysis has already revealed some «microbiological values within the quality standards».

In statements to the Sul Informação, the mayor of Lagos explained yesterday that the municipal services were already “finding [whether these cases] are related to the rains or to the WWTP and rainwater discharges”.

In either case, said Hugo Pereira, these are “situations that are resolved the next day”.
