A mega parade «without dirt» and without the traditional bath, given by an auto-tank of the Fire Brigade of Faro. This is one of the main novelties of Receção ao Caloiro that starts this Wednesday, September 21st and whose musical lineup includes names such as Rony Fuego, Real Punch & Kristoman, Ruben Filipe and Holly Hood.
In an interview with Sul Informação, Fábio Zacarias, president of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg), explained that the decision not to have the usual bath, in Largo de São Francisco, is due to “the serious moment of drought that we are experiencing”.
«It is a message that we want to pass on», he summarized.
Another novelty is that the parade, which will take place on the afternoon of the 27th, Tuesday, will not be “dirty”.
«The money that would be spent on buying food to dirty the freshmen will be saved for us to make a basket to be donated to an institution», said Fábio Zacarias.
In addition to the parade, which is always one of the highlights, Receção ao Caloiro will also have, as usual, a vast musical lineup.
The concerts, this year, take place in Muralhas, in a return to an emblematic space for Algarve students: it was there that the first editions of the Academic Week took place.
The freshman party starts this Wednesday, September 21, with the Monumental Serenade for the Opening of the School Year, in Largo do Carmo. On the 22nd, there will be a night of tunas with Real Tuna Infantina, Versus Tuna and Feminis Ferventis and DJ Ricardo Vieira.
Then, on the 23rd, Rony Fuego, Holly Hood and the DJ duo from Cidade FM perform. On Saturday, the 24th, Real Punch & Kristoman, X-Tense and there will also be “Baile das Novinhas” concerts.
Next, on the 25th, Ruben Filipe and DJ Coring. Monday (26) is the night of Cristiano Martins and DJ André Salgueiro.
Fluxo Funk and the Miss and Mister Caloiro contest promise to liven up the night of the 27th. For the following night, Jaimão, DJ Nalvez, DJ Noxwell and the “Caloiro Superstar” contest are reserved.
The Reception to Caloiro ends with Miguel Azevedo and DJ Mr Kool in the traditional night of “Alcoholização dos Perus” which is also back.
