Monte Gordo will honor its patron saint, between the 7th and 11th of September, with the traditional festivities in honor of Nossa Senhora das Dores, which will feature a concert by Quim Barreiros and a fireworks display.
The celebrations begin today, the 7th, with the performance of the Philharmonic Band of the Cultural Association of Vila Real de Santo António, at 21:00.
On Thursday, the shows start at 22:00 pm and feature the Santo António de Arenilha Ethnographic Group and the Casa do Povo de Lanheses Folklore Group. At night, there are rhythms from the Gracia Diaz Ball Academy.
On September 9, at 22 pm, the program begins with a dance performance by the Contemporary Ballet Academy (ABC), followed by performances by Luís Guilherme and DJ Cabeça.
On Saturday, the morning is reserved for activities for the younger ones. Next, at 17:00, the veterans match Beira-Mar x Vidigueira, as well as the usual religious ceremonies in the church of Monte Gordo. The night's entertainment starts at 22:00 and is in charge of «DeeP CoveR,» «DR» and dj Flip D'Palm.
Finally, on Sunday, September 11th, the morning begins with the usual rowing boat race. The highlight of the festivities is the procession with the image of Nossa Senhora das Dores, at 17:00. The program ends with a concert by Quim Barreiros on Avenida Marginal de Monte Gordo, at 22:00, and with fireworks, at 00:00.
The feast in honor of Nossa Senhora das Dores is organized by the Municipality of VRSA, the Parish Council of Monte Gordo and the local parish. It has the support of the Monte Gordo Beach Seafood Association, the Monte Gordo Bay Artisanal Fishing Association and the “Os Cuícos” Sports Group.
